Belanglo 6hr Rogaine
Snaps from the NSW Paddy Pallin 6hr Rogaine
My teammate Eamon suggested we go camping the night before the rogaine for the vibes, and to reduce pressure in the morning. This was an absolute win. We camped with a few of our friends, and a great evening eating and chatting in a circle before retiring quite early to sleep.
The great Southern Cross, shining down on us between the pines
Planning the route scattered amongst the pines and our camping supplies was chill, especially since we didn’t have to get up early to make it there from Canberra!
I took the camera with me for the rogaine, but even though we were walking, these two activities didn’t synergise well. All the interesting times (like dense bush, steep terrain, and getting checkpoints) were challenging to capture. At the other times, it was hard to be intentional with the photography, as it’s not the main reason to be there.
This ended up being steeper than expected - and was sweaty work, hence the foggy lens
There were heaps of nice ferns
A teammate taking a leak gives me time to practice my photography
Overall we had a great time, and managed to get a good deal of points, even doing our best to avoid running. I’ll stick to bringing my camera on non-competitive adventures.
